If you have multiple sources, you have a fairly stable traffic flow in spite of whatever happens to a particular method. For example, those who depend on search engines for traffic know of what's called Google dance. If you have diversified traffic sources and techniques, the effects won't really be very obvious. (Well established sites are less affected by this dance).
